The device for implementing IIoT & automation projects

IndustrialPI 4 – The industrial PC

Two IPC versions side by side

The IndustrialPI 4 is a real all-rounder and as such is able to map the most varied application requirements. This is enabled by the open, Linux-based operating system and modular hardware approach. It is left to the user to decide whether to use the IndustrialPI 4 as an IIoT gateway, Edge Device, soft PLC or industrial PC, according to need, thus enabling the system to be adapted flexibly to the most varied requirements.

Customised solution for your application

There are various options for programming individual applications. These include Node-RED, Python and direct C-programming. The IndustrialPI 4 has a modular structure, so you can configure the base unit with appropriate expansion modules, such as I/Os. The expansion modules can be connected to the base unit via a plug-in connector without using tools, and can be configured with ease via a graphical user interface.

Via the two Ethernet sockets on the IndustrialPI 4, the device can be incorporated into the automation and IT network at the same time. Machine data can be transferred from the shop floor via Modbus TCP, for example, enabling it to be transferred to the cloud or a higher level IT system in MQTT or OPC UA format.

Your benefits at a glance:

Additional expansion modules are available to connect analogue and digital sensors as well as actuators. Up to ten such modules can be connected, depending on the base unit. Each module supports up to 16 inputs / outputs.

  • Cloud:

The IndustrialPI 4 has certifications for leading cloud platforms such as AWS, MS Azure and Cumulocity, making it an ideal IIoT Gateway between the OT and IT world.

  • Protocols:

At both OT and IT level, seamless integration into various industrial environments is enabled due to the support of a wide range of industrial protocols such as PROFINET, EtherCAT, Modbus, MQTT or OPC-UA.

  • Programming & control:

The IndustrialPI 4 is characterised by its high level of flexibility during programming, thanks to the Linux-based operating system Raspbian. With this operating system, various applications such as SOFT PLC with CODESYS, Node-RED or Python can be implemented seamlessly.

  • Periphery:

The base modules are extremely versatile and are ideally suitable as classic IPCs for industrial applications. With an HDMI output for monitor/touchscreen and USB connections for mouse, keyboard and other periphery devices such as cameras or scanners, they offer a wide range of application options.

  • Networking:

The IndustrialPI 4 can be incorporated into two different networks at the same time, thanks to the two RJ45 Ethernet sockets. It is also possible to connect Modbus RTU sensors via the 4-pin RS485 socket.
