SSM - Safe speed monitoring

The safe speed monitoring (SSM) function in accordance with EN 61800-5-2 supplies a safe output signal to indicate whether the motor speed is below a defined limit value.

The safe speed monitoring safety function in practice

In practice, this monitoring of a defined minimum speed makes it possible to only allow access to a danger zone if a speed falls below a defined value, for example. Speed monitoring can also be used with centrifuges that can only be safely filled below a certain rotational speed.

If you combine safe speed monitoring with the safely limited speed (SLS) function, this results in the safe speed range (SSR) safety function. This monitors a defined speed corridor comprising a minimum speed that must not fall below a defined value and a maximum speed that must not be exceeded.

The safety function is also fulfilled by the speed monitor PNOZ s30!
